First Local Case Of West Nile Virus Reported

Franklin County has its first case of West Nile Virus.Columbus Public Health officials say a 38-year-old man was recently hospitalized for symptoms of the mosquito-borne disease, but has made a full recovery. Columbus Public Health reports a sharp increase in the number of mosquitoes and infected mosquitoes in the county. Officials are spraying for mosquitoes across the county. The state has stopped its mosquito surveillance program, leaving that work to local health departments.
