Former OSU Nurse Sentenced For Masterminding Cancer Hoax

WCBE files

A former Ohio State University nurse has been sentenced to two years in prison and three years' probation for faking a cancer diagnosis.

34-year-old Tawni Fuller must also pay 48 thousand dollars restitution. She told co-workers she had terminal lung cancer in 2016. Prosecutors say she lied to obtain gifts, money and donated sick days. Fuller said she fabricated the story because she was depressed and liked the positive response from co-workers.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
