Fracking Protestor Pleads Not Guilty To Felony

An Athens County woman has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge

for her protest at an Ohio injection site over fracking wastewater. 31-year-old Madeline Fitch is scheduled for trial in November following her protest at the Ginsburg Class II injection site in Alexander Township on June 26th. Her attorneys argued her act was civil disobedience and did not rise to a felony level. Fitch and other protesters were demanding the Ohio Department of Natural Resources conduct chemical tests on wastewater being trucked to the site from Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The water has since been tested.
