Ginther Asks For Public's Help As Columbus Saw Another Weekend Of Gun Violence

Columbus Mayor Andy Ginther is calling on residents to help address the recent rise in gun violence.

Ginther says his administration is planning to take action in the coming days.  Ginther said there was a spike in youth violence over the summer, and the city can't police its way out of the problem.

Columbus police say an elderly woman died after she was struck by a stray bullet in her Parsons Avenue apartment Saturday morning. No arrests have been made in the death of 64-year-old Ellen Lakey.

One person was shot and killed and another wounded early this morning at a home in the 6100 block of Channingway Boulevard.

One person is hospitalized in critical condition after a shooting Sunday in the 1600 block of Jefferson Avenue.

A 16-year-old boy was shot and wounded early Sunday morning during a robbery in the 1400 block of North 4th Street. A 15-year-old girl sustained a minor injury during the robbery.
