The former head of the Ohio Turnpike Commission has been confirmed as Ohio's new health director over the objections of Democrats and health professionals who say he's unqualified. Rick Hodges has led the Ohio Department of Health since August. Hodges is an abortion opponent who will lead an agency that inspects and licenses facilities that perform the procedure. Hodges has said he won't let his personal beliefs interfere with the job.
