Husel Case Prompts More Firings, Leadership Shake Up At Mt. Carmel

mountcarmelhealth.com

Columbus-based Mount Carmel Health System says it's firing 23 more employees and changing leadership after investigating fatal painkiller doses given to dozens of patients.

The move comes five weeks after William Husel, the doctor accused of ordering the doses, pleaded not guilty to 25 counts of murder. The newly fired employees include five physicians and several nursing and pharmacy management team members. CEO Ed Lamb says he's resigning this month, and  chief clinical officer Richard Streck is retiring in September. Mount Carmel previously fired Husel.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
