Republican Ohio Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted says he will not run in 2022 to succeed Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, who said this week he is not seeking re-election.
In a statement, Husted says he intends to seek re-election to his current job, and one day run for governor. Former central Ohio Republican Congressman Pat Tiberi says he won't run for Portman's seat.
Former Democratic Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman says on Twitter he is considering a run.
