IG: State Prisons Department Overpaid Food Services Contractor

The Ohio Inspector General says the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction overpaid food service contractor Aramark Correctional Services by more than 57 thousand dollars, due to an inflated inmate count at the London Correctional Institution. The department also improperly agreed to cover meal expenses, including tips for pizza delivery. Aramark repaid the money in March. The contract has been amended to show an updated agreement on extra costs. The state pays more than 60 million dollars a year to Aramark to prepare meals for more than 50 thousand inmates.
