Japan Says Its Companies Have Created Thousands Of Ohio Jobs

The Consule General of Japan says 422 Japanese business facilities in Ohio are providing a total of nearly 71 thousand direct jobs.  The Japanese Direct Investment Survey shows despite a small decrease in number facilities last year, nearly 15 hundred more workers were employed in them than during the previous year. The consulate says the numbers are as of last October 1. Manufacturing companies account for the majority of Japan's investment in Ohio, and nearly 90 percent of the employment gains in 2014 were automotive-related positions.  Japanese investment is distributed across 62 of Ohio's 88 counties. Overall the jobs are concentrated in central, southwestern and northwestern Ohio. Honda operates an auto assembly plant in Marysville and has other manufacturing plants in the state.
