Jesus Portrait Sparks Controversy

The American Civil Liberties Union and the Freedom From Religion Foundation are asking a federal judge to order the removal of a portrait of Jesus from the entranceway at Jackson Middle School. The groups say  it is in violation of the Constitutional separation of church and state. School Superintendent Phil Howard says he is surprised the lawsuit was filed before the district completed its investigation. Students donated the portrait, which has been in the school since the late 1940s.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
