Judge Delays Sentencing For Former Pilot Flying J President

nvgamerica.org

A Tennessee judge has delayed sentencing for former Pilot Flying J president Mark Hazelwood for his conviction in a scheme to defraud trucking companies out of promised fuel rebates.

The judge has moved the sentencing to September 26 to allow attorneys to examine audit reports used to determine fraud by each defendant in the scheme. The amount stolen by a person factors into the sentences. Hazelwood had fired his defense team and requested the delay.  The truck stop chain is controlled by the family of Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and Republican Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam. Neither man has been charged with wrongdoing.
