A Franklin County judge has ordered a 21-year-old victim of a hit-and-run accident be taken off life support so that his organs may be harvested for donation. Elijah Smith was hit by a car while riding his bicycle earlier this month and was declared brain-dead. He previously agreed to be an organ donor, according to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles, but his parents said they believed he could still recover and did not want his organs harvested. The organ procurement agency Lifeline of Ohio asked the court to issue the order.
