Judge Orders Columbus To Pay Man Who Purchased Helicopter

A federal district judge this week ordered the city of Columbus to pay more money to a Canadian businessman who claims the city sold him a defective helicopter. The city must pay nearly 380 thousand dollars to Scott Baker, owner of Versatile Helicopters. He says claims the 12-year-old police helicopter he purchased in 2009 for 510 thousand dollars had numerous mechanical problems. That forced more than 200 thousand dollars worth of repairs. A jury found in favor of Baker in September. An appeals court later ruled the federal judge erred in ordering the city to pay 250 thousand dollars.
