Judge Rescinds Restraining Order Against Planned Parenthood

A federal district judge has dropped his order that blocked Ohio officials from taking action against Planned Parenthood, after the state said it will not enforce a fetal tissue disposal rule. The judge found no reason to continue the temporary restraining order given the state's notice. An investigation by Republican Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine criticized Planned Parenthood facilities for disposing of fetal remains in landfills. Planned Parenthood called the allegations "inflammatory" and says it follows Ohio law. The state requires providers to dispose of aborted fetuses "in a humane manner," with no further definition of "humane." DeWine said last week the Ohio Department of Health will not enforce the regulation as lawmakers seek to clarify disposal procedures.
