A Franklin County jury has convicted the man charged with killing two Westerville police officers responding to a 911 hang-up call.
32-year-old Quentin Smith was tried on two counts of aggravated murder for fatally shooting Eric Joering and Anthony Morelli in February 2018. Prosecutors said Smith killed the officers in an exchange of gunfire after opening his apartment door. The officers were responding to a 911 hang-up call. Smith's wife testified she made the call after her husband physically assaulted hear. The jury will reconvene Monday for the sentencing phase of the trial. Smith is eligible for the death penalty.
