Kasich Backers File FCC Complaint About Attack Ad

Jan 28, 2016

Allies of Republican Ohio Governor and presidential candidate John Kasich have filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission over a new attack ad funded by a group that does not disclose its donors.

The American Future Fund, which paid 1 million dollars to air the ad in New Hampshire, is a nonprofit whose founder, Nick Ryan, is not disclosing the source of the money. The ad portrays Kasich as being aligned with President Obama and criticizes him for expanding Medicaid, something many Republican politicians oppose. Ryan also leads a super PAC helping presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Ryan says no candidate allies approached him about doing the ad.
