Lawsuit Filed Against Mount Carmel Amid Legionnaires' Disease Outbreak

bizjournals.com

A man who says he is victim of the Legionnaires' Diesease outbreak at Mount Carmel's Grove City hospital claims operators failed to take sufficient steps to address the problem.

The lawsuit filed by Martin Brown says he contracted the bacteria at the facility during his stay between April 28 and May 7. A May 31st letter from the Ohio Department of Health notes the water lines were not re-tested before the hospital opened in April. Officials now say 16 people have been sickened. One has died. Mount Carmel has yet to comment on the suit.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
