The Cuyahoga County Council has approved a 950 thousand dollar settlement of a lawsuit over the 2018 death of an inmate in the troubled county jail.
The estate of Gregory Fox alleges he told guards when he was being processed he had suicidal thoughts and mental illness. Staff is accused of failing to properly monitor Fox, who later hung himself. Several inmates have died in the lockup over the last two years. The U.S. Marshals Service has called jail conditions inhumane.
