Local Couple To Plead Guilty In Health Insurance Fraud Scheme Involving First Responders

A Columbus area couple has agreed to plead guilty to running a scheme involving prescriptions for city employees and first responders.

Court documents show Amy Kirk and Ryan Edney will plead guilty to federal charges of defrauding Medicare and other health insurers by billing for compound cream medications deemed not medically necessary. Some of those creams were sold to Columbus' first-responders and to attendees of the Arnold Sports Festival. Columbus taxpayers spend 2.3 million dollars on the bogus creams for first-responders.
