Central Ohio's Meals on Wheels program is expanding to include the pets owned by seniors on a fixed income.
The newLifecare Alliance Senior Pet Care program provides free pet food and medical care to owners in need. The program was started in response to reports from drivers that seniors on a budget were sharing their own meals with their pets. Lifecare Alliance says pets are important companions for seniors, especially those who live alone or have no close immediate family nearby.
