Mayor Ginther's Father Charged With Assault, Domestic Violence

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

The father of Columbus Mayor Andy Ginther has been charged with domestic violence and assault for allegedly striking his live-in granddaughter. Court documents show 69-year-old Jeffrey Ginther was arrested at his Chatham Lane home late Friday for allegedly striking 19-year-old Jazmine Ginther at least one time. Jeffrey Ginther is free on bond after pleading not guilty to the first-degree misdemeanor charges on Saturday. Arraignment is scheduled for Monday morning. A statement from the Mayor reads as follows:

"There was an incident involving members of my family, in which emotion and circumstance got the better of all involved. I expect the authorities will fully investigate the matter, take appropriate action and that justice will be even handed.

At times, family members may disappoint you. Their behavior may be unacceptable, and they must be held accountable. But, they are your family, and you love them."
