Medicare Accepts Mt. Carmel's Corrective Plan

cms.gov

Mount Carmel Health System says it has tightened policies and drug access in its pharmaceutical services to address problems that jeopardized Medicare funding.

Officials outlined the changes in plans submitted to the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which deemed them acceptable. The hospitals still have to pass an unannounced check-up on the changes. Mount Carmel found now-fired doctor William Husel ordered fatal doses of pain medication for 34 patients. Sixteen lawsuits have now been filed. The latest is over the 2016 death of 67-year-old Sanders Young Junior.
