More Fracking Wastewater Pumped Under Ohio Last Year

wcpn.org

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says the amount of fracking wastewater pumped underground in the state increased by more than 15 percent last year.  Ohio took in nearly 29 million barrels of fracking wastewater in 2015, 4 million more than in 2014. 45 percent of the wastewater came from outside of Ohio. The state has linked injection wells that pump the chemically-laced water underground to earthquakes. The increase comes as fracking activity has slowed nationwide.
