New Boating, Docking Restrictions At Buckeye Lake

parks.odnr.gov

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has set new construction and dock usage policies at Buckeye Lake. No new docks, boat lifts or other equipment will be permitted on the earthen dam without express approval. Construction of homes, patios, pools and sidewalks must have a permit. The department also says it will have a speed zone for boaters on the western portion of the lake. ODNR says due to safety concerns, skiing, wakeboarding and tubing have been banned.  A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers report says there is a high risk of failure of the dam, which could put 3 thousand lives at risk. ODNR says the construction and dock usage policies are intended to preserve the dam's remaining integrity.
