New STEM-Type School Planned In Columbus

The Metro Early College High School in Columbus was created nearly ten years ago by Ohio State University and Battelle.

It teaches science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Now Battelle and Franklin University are announcing plans to open a new high school this fall. The Metro Institute of Technology will allow math, science and technology students to earn college credit. The school will be housed on Franklin’s campus. Officials say the students will be able to take college courses from Columbus State, Franklin and Ohio State and will have internship opportunities.
