O'Brien Responds To Husel's Attempt To Dismiss Indictment

Associated Press

The Franklin County Prosecutor says a county court should refuse to dismiss the murder indictment against William Husel, the former Mount Carmel Health physician who has pleaded not guilty to 25 murder counts.

Husel is accused of ordering fatal doses of painkillers. His attorneys say the indictment should be dismissed because Ron O'Brien wrongly influenced the grand jury by excluding contradictory information about another patient. O'Brien, who lost his re-election bid on Tuesday, calls the challenge meritless and impermissible, and says the court should not hold an evidentiary hearing.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
