Ohio AG Will Lead Independent Probe Of Woman Who Died In Cleveland Police Custody

Anderson Family via Cleveland Police

The Ohio Attorney General's office will serve as special prosecutor investigating the November 2014 death of Tanisha Anderson in a struggle with Cleveland police during a mental health crisis. Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Tim McGinty sent the case to the AG after the county sheriff department's investigation of Anderson's death revealed a conflict of interest for the prosecutor's office.  The office would not comment on the nature of the conflict. The county coroner ruled her death a homicide from being restrained in a prone position, though obesity and other health problems also contributed.
