Today is Giving Tuesday, a way for people to help non-profit organizations and the less fortunate.
The Ohio Attorney General's office says be generous, but wise. Spokesperson David O'Neil says scammers may also be trying to compete for contributions:

The Better Business Bureau says 65 percent of Americans don't investigate where their money is going prior to making a donation. Charities can be verified through the Ohio Attorney General's website, as well as BBB Wise Giving Alliance, CharityNavigator and IRS Select Check.
