Ohio will get a share of the multi-state legal settlement with Volkswagen to resolve lawsuits brought by customers who purchased what were advertised as "clean" diesel cars that emitted pollution at levels above federal limits. Half a million vehicles are covered by the deal. Owners of affected Volkswagens and Audis will receive at least 51 hundred dollars in compensation, and will have Volkswagen either fix their cars for free or buy them back at pre-scandal fair market prices. The Ohio Attorney General's office says the state will get 13 million dollars out of the 15 billion dollar settlement. New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says his state is also getting a share of the settlement.
The Ohio AG says the deal effects nearly 14 thousand Ohioans who bought Volkswagens or Audis in the model years 2009 through 2015.
