OHP Reports Increase In Traffic Fatalities Over New Year's Holiday

The Ohio Highway Patrol says 11 people died in traffic crashes during the five day New Year's holiday period. 

Six resulted from not wearing seat belts and four were related to driving under the influence. Troopers made 448 DUI arrests and 231 drug arrests. They also issued 952 safety belt citations.  Six fatalities were reported in the previous year. The patrol also says 1,063 people died on Ohio's roads in 2018, a 10 percent decrease from 2017.
