OSU Gets $10 Million Grant For 5-Year Program To Study COVID-19

Ohio State University is getting a five-year $10 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to study the long term effects of COVID-19 on front line workers and the general public.

The Center for Seriological Testing To Improve Outcomes from Pandemic COVID-19 (STOP-COVID) will join with a national organization to measure people's responses to exposure by studying antibodies in the blood.

The study will follow nearly 2,000 people and hopes to answer why some people are asymptomatic, whether poeple who have recovered from COVID-19 can become reinfected, and if infection with similar viruses makes a person's experience with COVID-19 better or worse.

Researchers hope to lear more about exposure and transmission rates. and complications with testing and vaccinations.
