Police Brutality Protestors Take To Columbus Streets For Second Straight Night

May 30, 2020

Five people were arrested and two police officers injured last night as hundreds of police brutality protestors clashed with police in riot gear for the second night in the downtown area.

The protest started at police headquarters, where officers in riot gear and the bicycle forced protestors  to move away from the building onto Front Street, then to North High and Broad Streets. Police there pepper-sprayed the crowd and deployed flash-bang grenades against demonstrators near City Hall. Police say some protesters were throwing water bottles and shooting fireworks at officers. Police also responded to reports of looting in the Short North area. Two officers were injured by thrown objects. Not long after objects were thrown, police again declared an emergency in the downtown area, meaning anyone who did not leave the area was subject to be removed regardless of their reason for being there.  Another protest is scheduled for Saturday.
