legacy.com

Former Cincinnati Reds infielder Chuck Harmon passed away Tuesday at the age of 94.

A former Negro League player, Harmon was the Reds' first African-American player, breaking into the big leagues seven years after Jackie Robinson broke baseball's color barrier. He also played for St. Louis and Philadelphia. Harmon later spent time as a scout for the Cleveland Indians and as a clerk for the First Ohio District Court of Appeals.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
