Reynoldsburg Cop Charged With Drug Possession

Delaware County Sheriff's Office

A Reynoldsburg police detective has been charged with using his position to confiscate and then distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana and Percocet pills.

43-year old Tye L. Downard of Westerville was arrested this morning after an investigation that was sparked by a tip to the FBI Public Corruption Task Force.  According to court documents, Downard allegedly delivered drugs to an individual to sell 21 times between October 2015 and February 2016.  The complaint specified that on at least two occasions, the drug delivered appeared identical to those seized under a search warrant just days earlier. Drug possession with intent to distribute carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
