Services Scheduled For Co-Founder Of The Ohio Players

Public memorial services have been scheduled for the front man and co-founder of the funk group The Ohio Players. A service will be held at a Cincinnati Church on February 9th for Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner, who died last Saturday at age 69 of cancer. Another service will be held on March 14th in downtown Dayton. Bonner grew up in Hamilton, Ohio and helped form The Ohio Players in the 1960s. He remained active in recent years with a spinoff called Sugarfoot's Ohio Players.The Ohio Players made the charts in the 1970s with hits that include "Fire," "Skin Tight," "Funky Worm" and "Love Rollercoaster."
