Sherrod Brown Blasts GOP For Blocking Paid Sick Leave Proposal

Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio is criticizing the chamber's Republican leadership for blocking his paid sick leave proposal amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The measure requires all employers to provide up to seven days of paid sick leave and 14 additional days in the case of a health emergency.

"I'm angry on behalf of millions of Ohioans and Americans who are scared right now.  One of the most improtant thing we can do to stop the spread is pass paid sick leave today."

Brown says Republican Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s response to the virus has been stronger than that of President Trump, who has floated the idea of a payroll tax cut that would extend through the November election. Trump's budget officials have refused to back away from proposed cuts for the Centers for Disease Control.
