Slight Increase In Ohio Poverty

New U.S. Census Bureau figures show 16.3 percent of Ohioans, or 1.8 million people, were in poverty last year, up one tenth from 2011. Ohio is seventh in the nation for its poverty rate. 36 percent of the people living in Cuyahoga County had income below the poverty level. Franklin County's rate is 22 percent while Hamilton County's rate is just under 20 percent. Ohio's median household income in 2012 was just under 47 thousand dollars, an 11 percent drop over the past dozen years.
