Some Columbus Schools Students Return To In-Person Instruction Today

Nov 2, 2020

Columbus Downtown High School

Fourteen hundred career and technical education students are scheduled to return to a pair of Columbus City School campuses today, and the district has signed a memo of understanding with the teachers' union on protecting staff and students.

Students at Fort Hayes and the Columbus Downtown High School will be divided into small groups, and spend two days on campus and three days online. Juniors will attend classes in the morning, and seniors in the afternoon.  They will be required to wear masks in classrooms and on busses, plexiglass barriers will be installed if needed to maintain social distancing, and hand sanitizer and handwashing stations will be available. In a departure from the plan last month, students with complex educational needs will continue remote learning until mid-January, when elementary and middle school students are scheduled to return.
