State Launching Program To Help Central Ohio Kids With Developmental Disabilities

The state is launching a pilot program to help central Ohio families whose children have developmental disabilities requiring residential treatment. The Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities has chosen a company to test an effort to provide and pay for out-of-home treatment at the agency's Springfield campus. The department is setting aside 1 million dollars for the program, which will be made available in October. The agency hopes to ultimately expand the program statewide. The Franklin County Board of Developmental Disabilities is developing new residential options for older youth who can not safely live with their families.
