State Pledges Assistance For American Centrifuge Project Workers

reuters.com

Ohio Governor John Kasich says the state will offer job-search support and other help for workers affected when the federal government halts the American Centrifuge Project in Piketon. The U.S. Department of Energy plans to let its contract expire at the end of September, meaning 235 workers could be laid-off. A transition center in Pike County offers information about unemployment insurance benefits and training opportunities. Kasich says help also will be available for workers affected if funding changes slow down the nearby Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant cleanup project.
