State To Seek New Air Quality Designation For The Region

The Ohio EPA is seeking from the federal government a new air quality designation for central Ohio that the American Lung Association has consistently rated as poor.

The agency says because of the year's record rainfall, the air quality is now in line with current federal standards. The agency plans to submit a maintenance plan explaining how the region will meet a 2021 deadline set by the federal Clean Air Act.
