The Ohio Development Services Agency says historic preservation tax credits will help preserve the old Municipal Power Plant on Nationwide Boulevard in Columbus and 38 other old buildings around the state. Jim Letizia reports.
The 2 million dollar credit will allow for the conversion of the plant into office space and an auction house. A 98-thousand dollar credit will help restore the mausoleum at Green Lawn Abbey cemetery. A 121 thousand dollar credit will go to converting the old Yankee Trader building on North High Street into restaurant and office space. A 133 thousand dollar credit will allow conversion of a portion of the building at 100 Jefferson Avenue into office space. And a 542 thousand dollar credit will help convert the old Circleville High School building into apartments and a community cafe. The agency awarded nearly 28 million dollars in credits this week. Other projects include a hotel constructed in 1908 in Toledo and the Cincinnati building built in 1930 that was once the Crosley Radio Corporation headquarters and home to the company's design and manufacturing operations. Developers will not get the credits until the projects are completed and have met all program requirements.
