Study Recommends Improvements At County Dog Shelter

franklincountydogs.com

A University of Wisconsin study commissioned by Franklin County officials after the 2016 distemper outbreak at the county dog shelter has concluded.

The study released this week recommends providing double-roomed kennels for canines, and reducing the shelter population by making it easier for people to adopt animals and doing more to help owners avoid placing animals for adoption. The study cost taxpayers 50 thousand dollars. 99 shelter dogs were euthanized during the outbreak.
