Sunland Plant Closed By Feds

The Sunland peanut butter plant in New Mexico has laid off a third of its 150 workersafter federal authorities closed the facility amid a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened 41 people in Ohio and 19 other states. The Food and Drug Administration suspended Sunland's registration to operate because of repeated safety violations. It came just as the plant near the Texas border was set to resume shelling peanuts.
