Suspension Recommended For Second CDF Official Implicated In Sexual Misconduct Case

A Columbus Fire Battalion Chief is facing discipline for his role in a firehouse sex scandal.Division officials yesterday found Jerry Birkhimer guilty of more than 20 internal violations in the coverup of firefighter Marc Cain's on-duty affair with an 18-year-old woman. Fire Chief Greg Paxton is recommending Columbus Safety Director Mitch Brown suspend Birkhimer for 30 days and reduce his rank to captain.
