Teen Charged In Death Of Chillicothe Photographer Formally Accepts Plea Bargain

wlwt.com

One of two teen suspects in last year's death of a Chillicothe photographer at Hocking Hills State Park has admitted helping to push a log off a cliff that struck and killed her.

Seventeen-year-old Jordan Buckley pleaded guilty Friday to involuntary manslaughter in the death of 44-year-old Victoria Schafer. Under terms of a plea agreement, prosecutors dropped murder and reckless homicide charges. Schafer was taking photos at the foot of the stairs at Old Man's Cave in September of 2019 when Buckley and 17-year-old Jaden Churchheus pushed the log off a cliff at the top of the stairs. Churchheus pleaded guilty earlier this month. The pleas insure the duo will not be tried as  adults. Sentencing for both is scheduled October 15.
