Text Threat Puts Arts Impact Middle School On Lockdown

Alison Holm

A Columbus middle school was on lockdown for several hours this morning, following a texted threat.

A teacher at the Arts Impact Middle School received the threat around 8 a.m. as students were settling in.  The building was locked down by district security, followed by Columbus police, who searched the building as students remained in classrooms.  No other buildings on the Fort Hayes Career Center campus were affected, and officers on site said there did not appear to be any danger.

The incident follows a lockdown at Canal Winchester schools and North Pickerington High School Monday, after a series of bomb threats to the schools and other sites in Canal Winchester between Sunday and Tuesday.  The Fairfield County sheriff's office says those threats appear to have originated with a suspect from outside of Ohio.
