Three COVID-19 Cases Identified In Ohio

Mar 9, 2020

Three Ohioans have tested positive for the coronavirus, and Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has declared a state of emergency.

The three unnamed people are all from Cuyahoga County and are identified as a man in his 50's, recently returned from the AIPAC conference in Washington DC, and a married couple, 1 man and 1 woman in their 50's recently returned from a Nile River cruise.

Ohio Department of Health director Amy Acton says people who have come into contact with the three will be contacted by the health department.  Community spread of the virus is a concern.  Acton urges high-risk people - older people and those who have chronic medical conditions like diabetes, or heart or lung disease  - to avoid crowds.  Governor DeWine says non-essential travel by state employees is being cancelled.
