Two Local Counties To Test 911 Texting System This Year

Jan 3, 2018

Delaware and Franklin Counties plan to test a system this year allowing residents with emergencies to text 911 instead of placing a call.

Officials say the technology will allow people to covertly send information to police. They say texting is an important option if someone is hiding during an emergency and it would be dangerous to be heard on the phone.Cuyahoga and Hamilton counties already have such a system in place.
