The family of an African-American man shot and killed by a white University of Cincinnati police officer last July has reached a 5.3 million dollar settlement of their wrongful death lawsuit against the school. The deal also includes free undergraduate tuition for the 12 children of 43-year-old Samuel DuBose, a memorial for DuBose and an apology from the university. Attorney Al Gerhardstein represents the DuBose family.
Officer Ray Tensing was fired after the shooting and has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge.
